Palace Sign

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 21 October 2011 in Architecture and Portfolio.

Iconic sign atop the roof of the historic Palace Hotel in San Francisco

The Palace is one of the great hotels of the world. This sign was built to be read from the Bay Bridge, by motorists driving into San Francisco from the east. High-rise buildings have all but erased this line-of-sight - rendering the sign far less useful. It is lit each night however - a solid connection to our past.

Love the dappled light and off center perspective you have taken in this shot Stephen! Well done! ;-)

love the view from slightly above - it gives us a profusion of lines and angles and planes that add up to a very attractive image ... ;-))
