@Eric Cousineau: It closed as a prison in 1963. Then there was the Native American occupation through the early 1970's. It is a fascinating place but I can't shake the echos of many tortured souls and spirits. A heaviness hangs at every corner - even on the brightest of days.

@Paco Díaz: Hey my friend - great to hear from you. The proximity of Alcatraz had to break the spirit of the fellows locked up there. I understand you could hear the music coming out of the saloons and clubs along Fisherman's Wharf.
