The old rail bed through Shasta Valley amid the Siskiyou Range of Mountains in northern California. This is the track just north of the tiny town of Gazelle.

Milkweed lines the rails. Summer heat bakes the landscape.

Beautifully framed shot Stephen! The rail line seems to go on forever despite the mountain looming in the background. The haze in the air and the dry milkweed just scream summertime! Nicely captured! ;-)

Perfect perspective. Following this line of the tracks, my eye goes as deep as the photo will allow. The sidekick companion powerline/telephone posts are a great addition.

Gorgeous, beautiful spectacular rail shot, Stephen! I love rail shots and this one is a beaut! I also know Gazelle as the crews from Roseville (UP/SP still make the run up from the Roseville yard to Dunsmuir going through Gazelle.
My brothers and I have all worked for the railroad...Ohil worked 40 + years, Don working on his 20th (He joined them later in his career) and I worked for about 3 years as a kid before the Army...Great shot Stephen...

Beautiful shot. Although I personally would have cropped the top left cornet out.
