Lava Butte Caldera / facing north

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 21 June 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

In the foreground is U.S. Highway 97 as it enters Bend, Oregon. The red ribbon across the middle is the spiral road which corkscrews up from the base to near the rim of this caldera.

I can't recall ever seeing anything like the 'limb' that is coming out of this tree. Nature never stops delivering amazement.

Certainly the most unusual branch line I've ever seen.
These landscapes were screaming out for colour I think.

Truly beautiful country Stephen. Like the long road leading into infinity. Great foreground, like the curving red road and the unique looking tree. Fabulous capture of this lovely place.
