God Hates Art

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 21 May 2011 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

See. See. Just as I've always suspected! - God Hates Art!

Here is PROOF! The beginning of a short series for the San Francisco Art Institute's Graduate Program - 2011. This Art Exhibition was held at The Winery on Treasure Island. I arrived late and there was a line to get inside - I figured instead of standing around freezing - I'd grab some images...

dude, is that a hat on the guy's head on the left?
or is it his hair?

@The Dark Dude: They are both wearing tiny rainbow-striped pointy hats! The feathery thing out to the left wasn't hair - it was feathers.

@The Dark Dude: The sign on the building reads 'Winery' (you can kind of make out thr 'Y' on the edge. Anyway - thanks for the visit and comments.

When I first opened this, I thought the queue was for alcohol and the art was being ignored . .

@Ronnie 2¢: Your first impression was probably more correct than not. The first thing on the right as one entered the doors was a long and very well staffed wine bar. Then, at the top of the stairs to the second floor - another wine bar (in case the climb made you thirsty, I suppose). Cheers.

yz from Budapest, Hungary

i wonder what's in those guys' mind

some thing is missing from here: God hates bad art, and bad artists ruin the nations. let's be fair now, ok?! :)) great shot!

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

I'm impressed, even at a normal event like this you take the time and trouble to compose with lines and perspectives!

@Curly: Thanks for the kind observation, Curly. I fell in love with photography at the age of eight and worked in the world of film and paper for many years - I guess my approach is pretty ingrained at this point. To me - every image is a commitment ( I still find it hard to fire off a string of shots in rapid succession - even when it would probably be a good idea - it 'feels' like I'm wasting film ).

Lol! Good capture; these two sign-bearers seem to be having a grand old time.
