Just noticing the other track to the right of the road, is it a former rail line perhaps?

@Curly: Hi Curly - there was never a rail line here. That cut runs along the barbed wire fence on both sides of the road pretty much its entire length - I'm guessing access for maintenance. You couldn't do this in most places as plant-life would quickly take over. The rail line through northern Nevada runs well north of here. Interstate 80 parallels it in large part.
Such an image always makes me want to go on a roadtrip. :-)

What a fantastic place, I have seen some unusual weather patterns but on those occasions I have been out to sea.

Here in the Great Lakes region we don't realize how wide the wide-open spaces are. Shots like this remind us.
