Under The Bay Bridge

That is one pretty sailboat in the distance. In the foreground is the fireboat Phoenix. The fireboat Guardian is secured about 100 yards off her port beam. And, yes - that pier was as big a mess as it looks. this image was taken exactly four year ago - 14 April 2007 - and repairs to the nearby fire station and all of the piles and piers here are underway.

That was a raised garden in that wood box a few years back. The firemen had a number of them. You could drive by here in late summer and see beautiful tomatoes, lettuce, onions, squash, and even corn - towering above the waters of the bay. The men and women stationed here got the best eating on earth and it was saving the city a few bucks at the grocery store. Pretty cool.

It looks like the boat is holding the pier in place. I love these boats and wish they'd get the work done.

She is a pretty sailboat and I like the way she is framed with the bridge and fireboat.
