What a cool composition and the motion adds something I like here. Nice image Stephen.

@Monterey John: This was a humorous ten second exposure for me. This train conductor was in conversation with a woman who was familiar to him - perhaps an employee - perhaps someone who rides out of Martinez a lot. In either case - he just stood there while she couldn't keep still - moving all over the place as she spoke. I was really curious to see what the capture would reveal. The gabby woman pretty much disappeared - which might have been just what the conductor was hoping for...

Thanks for this Stephen, I'm just really noticing the sheer size of these trains, do they have two decks? It looks as though the passenger compartments are on an upper deck with something else on the lower deck - freight perhaps?

@Curly: Hey there, Curly - good morning from San Francisco. These are double decker cars - which gives some great viewing for those aboard. The lower deck is luggage, handicap and additional seating, and toilet facilities.

If I ever make it over to the States a long train trip is one of the things I would love to do !! I love travelling by train and the distances in the US would make a journey like this a real adventure !!

Excellent - love the 'ghost' station master! A superb vista along the platform between train and station.

The Martinez station looks a hell of a lot nicer than the Newark station! Lovely light here and a great classic view!

@Denny Jump Photo: Having been through Newark Station more than once - you will get no argument. Thanks, Denny...

Very clever of you to have motion blurs on the people and not the train.

Like a neverending dream world of a Twilight Zone movie inside a train Station.
Willoughby, Willoughby, next stop, Willoughby. This definitely is a future world,
but the same train will reoccur every time we wake up aboard it, wondering if
this is indeed the place we must forever get off in !~

That looks like a cool way to travel. During the year I spent in Japan, I grew very fond of high speed rail service on the Shinkansen. An excellent shot.
