thanks for the link, steven! after watching the video, i can only hope they won't run out of money and therefore alter the plans and build something mediocre or nothing at all! the buildings and parks they have planned look quite interesting and sophisticated!

by the way, while watching the video i realised that i have been in the old building before. that was in the 70s or 80s i think, but i have no memory of the "architectural merits" of the building!

@Franz: Back in the 30's and 40's with the trains coming through - this place might have seemed special. By the time you were here - it was a gray and somewhat depressing bus terminal with lots of homeless folks camping out. That is the saddest part for me. It really did provide those on the street a relatively safe place to be with heat and plumbing. No more. And no alternatives.

I believe that's where the KEY trains used to arrive. We'd come over from Oakland over the bridge in the days before BART. I remember coming back to the Bay to visit when I was young with my folks. We'd stay at The Claremont. The train ran right to the foot of the hill. Wonderful memories.
