San Francisco

archival image: January 2008

The San Francisco skyline as seen from Bernal Heights shortly after dawn. The large brick complex at right is San Francisco General Hospital. Just beyond it is the highest elevation of Potrero Hill. The entire foreground reveals the southeast half of the Mission District.

Love the feel of the new city as opposed to the one of old. Both have inextricable
qualities that make both a wonder. Superb photo of the city.

Looks like a very organized chaos down there . . it is, though, very 'readable' as a city.

I like the contrast in scale. The skyscrapers are monumental, but the old district definitely has a more human scale, noticeable even from this vantage point. The air is so clear in this shot, that the distances are almost palpable. The tower on the hill beyond downtown gives an overall understanding of the distances you've included in this shot.

This is a great view Stephen...That Hospital is so beautiful but rather sad now with all the trouble around it...

What a nice cityscape and the exposure is delicious, great soft light. I love shooting late in the year.

Be seeing you soon, Stephen.
