Is this salt water or fresh water? It's a great expansive view out there to the city I cannot begin to imagine the length of the bridge that you are on.

@Curly: Curly - good morning from San Francisco. The water is brackish - a mixture of salt and fresh that changes with the ebb and flow of the tides. The Mad River outflows to Arcata Bay along with numerous smaller streams.

If you go back to the photo and click on the link to the larger view - there is a link there to the Google map where all three of these images were captured. In 'satellite' or hybrid' view - you can see everything here - including the oyster farm, Indian and Woodley Island, Eureka, and this bridge.
