Commuting - San Francisco style...

When I first arrived here in 1970 - my first job was just south of Market at 5th and Howard Streets - and this was my ride in. I lived up in Pacific Heights and would take the electric trolley bus down to the cable car line and transfer. What a great way to start the day - holding onto the rail and letting the chill, moist air blow in your face.

Speaking of which - it was time for me to get to work...

A complete dream,it´s always so amazing hearing from somebody who lives somewhere that I´ve only ever seen on TV.A place that is so far removed from my own home and lifestyle.Isn´t AM3 a great way of making the world a whole lot smaller :-) Cheers Stephen !!

This city has some of the most interesting structures and streets. I've been aware of it since I was a kid watching "The Streets of San Francisco". I've given away my age. Of course I was only about 4:-) I see you've been playing in the street again:-)

I'd give my right arm to be able to photograph these old trams in motion!

@Curly: Hi there, Curly. You hang on to that right arm my friend. You might note that the finger that triggers the shutter is attached to the hand that is attached to that very arm. When you get here - you'll probably want that arm - right where it is!

Love your little chat with Curly.....and love that old public transportation you used to use.....sounds like a much better way to get to work than in an oil guzzling car!!! And like the street scene too!!!!

Beautiful shot, Steve. Boy, does it bring back memories! Thirty-five years ago, I commuted on those very cable cars. Thanks for the chance to remember those days.
