The vessel that ties up here has gone to sea. Another boat to my left was making ready to cast lines.

I was waiting for this one, I saw it at your other site and had a feeling it would show up here. The handrails in the foreground really anchor it down and keep everything in place, as well as inviting us to step forwards and take a deeper look into the picture.

@Curly: Tut - tut- tut, Curly - shame on you for 'peeking' ahead - but thanks. And cheers!

Is it the place for your boat ? :-)
Like the strange color of water very unusual in a port.

I just love the color of the water and its impossible stillness. It sure pays to get up early!

what really struck me here Stephen was that colour of the striking and yet I couldn't remember it. So I went looking in the archives and although a different time of day I guess it was similar and my memory is lousy.
Striking image all the same!

@Ted: The sky color has everything to do with water color - and so even under clouds - the color will be altered by the angle of the sunlight on the overcast. Enjoy your weekend.

The missing boat is important, even in its absence. Great composition.
