Bay Bridge est presque aussi beau que le Golden Gate dans cette jolie lumière

You have wonderful days there too! I like very much this view of the bridge with the morning light.

kate from lincolnshire, United Kingdom

fantastic view and details of the bridge!!
and then the bright white rope holders!? just add to the impact beautifully!!
~~good job~~:))

13 May 2010 7:10am

@kate: Thanks, Kate - you are kind. The white rope holder is a 'cleat'.

Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, France

Nicely composed in the soft morning light. We can feel the quietness oh the place... at this moment...

13 May 2010 8:27am

@Evelyne Dubos: Thanks very much, Evelyne. It was quiet out there on this particular morning. Almost anything can happen here. A 2600 passenger Princess cruise ship had been here the previous two days. Passenger ships, military and research vessels secure here - a massive fireworks show is held here each year featuring 5 live bands - hosted by a local radio station. The first annual Xtreme Games were held here a few years back. A massive complex is planned for this pier soon - with state-of-the-art cruise ship facility, waterfront hotel, plus restaurants and retail.

yz from Budapest, Hungary

nice juxtaposition with that white thing i dunno how to say in english
one can never get enough shot of this fantastic bridge

13 May 2010 9:08am

@yz: Hey yz- thanks for the visit. That 'white thing' in English is a 'cleat':

cleat [kleet]: Also called belaying cleat. Nautical. an object of wood or metal having one or two projecting horns to which ropes may be belayed, esp. as fixed to the deck, bulkhead, or stanchion of a vessel.

Ralph Jones from Detroit, United States

That is a very impressive structure, I am almost disappointed that there is no fog on this morning.

13 May 2010 11:20am

@Ralph Jones: Oh, Ralph - not to be disappointed - there was plenty of fog - out at that slightly more famous bridge to the west. That's why I was walking here.

cathy from moon, VA, United States

Very nice, Steve. As many times as I've driven over that bridge, I've never seen it from this vantage point. It's beautiful!

Anthony Morgan Lambert from Bielefeld(old West Wales boy), Germany

Grey and wet all week here and certainly no views like this to photograph, you have it all Stephen !!!

13 May 2010 1:23pm

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Oh, Anthony - far from 'having it all' - I'm absolutely certain that I wouldn't want it all - but I am very grateful for all that I have, as standing out at a spot like this as the morning dawns makes me ever more aware.

Ally from Singapore, Singapore

wow love how the photo is darker on the left side, and brighter on the right side. how'd you do that?!

and dont that white thing (no idea what it is) at the bottom of the picture reminds any of you of Michelin? HAHAHA

What a wonderful view so beautifully captured startling light and cool subtle reflections

Chris from South Jersey, United States

I love the light in this - nothing beats early sunrise lighting and the "fresh" feeling it brings......
forgive my critique, but the cleat (or "white thingy"!!) is a bit distracting to me - I want to look at the beauty and light on the bridge, but my eye is distracted by size and color of the cleat at the bottom.....just my $0.02....

Marcie from Newton, United States

Such a wonderful view of the bridge. Especially love the detail in the foreground..and how it contrasts.

(said with envy) Do you realise how spoilt you are for subject, landscape and material?

Fabulous composition Stephen! The bridge alone would be good but the additional cleat is a fine foreground detail.

Wow, looks like a place to tie the line of a good sized vessel. Nicely composed.

Stephen.....that large shot is just exquisite.......nothing as pretty as that early morning light, and the soft colors in the sky, and I really like the comp you did here.........makes me want to travel...soon......unfortunately, only travel in my near future seems to be either florida west coast, or florida, as far south as one can go......we shall see...

I'm just loving the cleat! When I first was the picture I imagined it as the back of acreatures head looking uout sea and now I can't stop wondering what is face looks like ha ha!

thats a cool foreground element to take the viewers into the pic

The bay bridge seems to glow in this early light! Very nice perspective! If it's going to be dry I guess you can look forward to the fog coming in!
