Klamath River

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 25 April 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

High water on the Klamath River - Del Norte County - California

The foliage was really this green and vibrant - and the river quite high.

Now well into California - I can begin to relax. There was plenty of rain and snow between Crescent City and this spot - some 22 miles (30 km) south of there. And a surprising thing happened shortly after this - and that will be our post - tomorrow...

J'aime l'ambiance de cette photo, les couleurs douces et la brume qui caresse la colline

The fog in the background sifting through the trees is great. If only there were some wildflowers in the foreground to pull this image together with some color diversity.

I love the quiet mood. You know how you don't think the river is making any sound, but when you really listen is? That's what I'm hearing.

I like the tone of the river and the mist hanging in the trees in the distance.

Mist across those hills, or low clouds?? Another beauty.......

25 Apr 2010 10:10pm

@Susan: The weather service can't seem to distinguish between mist, fog, and low clouds along the coast - so they (of course) invented a new term - this is our 'marine layer' which will or will not 'burn off' depending on whether it does or doesn't - hey look, Susan - I'm a weather forecaster!

Things are turning green and the rain helps. But oh how it makes the sky look so pale and uninviting, yet the low lying clouds across the river give the photo mystery.
