Meyers Creek Beach

Oregon Coastline - above Brookings

The southern coastline of Oregon is among my favorite areas. From Port Orford down to Brookings features some of the best weather in the state - friendliest residents - unpretentious towns - good restaurants - and magnificent coastline.

The afternoon was passing quickly now. It was snowing once again as I traveled south from here. My focus to get past the highest coastal hills in order to avoid chain restrictions had kicked into high gear. I stopped for gasoline in Brookings and filled my travel mug with coffee in Crescent City.

The next image (tomorrow) will see us well into California.

There must be a lot of trees and forests nearby judging by the amount of driftwood there, sometimes I get amazed at our own beaches (even in the harbour) to find almost full trees or tree trunks washed onto the beach. They probably originated about 30 miles upriver and were felled by the erosion on the river banks!

You've done a good job of framing this. The horizon is perfectly straight, but the wide-angle effect is really pronounced in the sand and the driftwood. Nice!
