Crockett Afternoon

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 27 March 2010 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

Late in the day - back in the town of Crockett

A recent little visit - back in the small town with the giant freeway interchange right in the middle of the village. Late in the afternoon.

A good angle for this view. I like the low houses and this beautiful sky.

@Susan: As described - this sounds to be quite the adventure. I hope you had a great time and somehow know we'll have some great images to look forward to.

Sometimes I find photos of small villages like this more interesting than the large city shots. It's the same when I'm on holiday, I quite often get off the beaten track and stay away from the tourist areas.

@Susan: Susan, if you'll allow me to say (and it took me much of my life to finally figure this out): There are no failures in this or any other of life's learning opportunities. Everything we do is an opportunity to learn and to grow. We need simply embrace this wonderful fact. The ONLY difference between hugely successful people and the rest of us - is that they don't judge the things that don't work as failures - in themselves or in anyone else. Every attempt at something affords the means to observe the results of our actions. To peacefully and quietly take apart the results and look at why it didn't go the way it was envisioned. And then to do it again another way - again, and again, and again if necessary - and to keep on observing. That is all...

I like how the empty space enhances this.

@Ralph Jones: Thanks, Ralph

I guess I should have explained it differently......it was an enjoyable time, cause I got to see people, who I liked, from our last photowalk, last summer.......and upon uploading and playing some with the images, there are probably a few that you will see out here eventually.....I was just quite disenchanted with the way the "contest" was run........i think i have a "personal dislike" basically for the guy that ran the thing.....he appears to be quite full of himself, and from what I've seen of his work, I'm really not impressed..(he claims to have work in the smithsonian, but i've never seen proof of that).......and we each had to pay him $20....and basically, got nothing in return, other than a photocopied "list" of what we were supposed to be out looking for...so all in all.......it wasn't a totally worthless endeavor....but I do appreciate your words of wisdom....sure makes you look at things in a different light......
