Light Painting - black lace series number two

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 27 February 2010 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

model: NiCole - studio session - (2010) in Sacramento. California\

The only illumination in this series was from two LED flashlights in an otherwise dark room. The person holding the flashlights (in this case - photographer Carolyn Cole) passed behind the model and then moved around to her left side (off camera). 30 second exposure at f/11 - - -

another cool shot in this series, the model must be patient to stand perfectly still for the 30 seconds

For some reason, I am reminded of jazz music. I can picture this scene with Miles Davis or Thelonius Monk music playing in the background.

@Viewfinder: I'll take this as a high compliment, Glenn, thanks - Now that you suggest this - 'So, What ?' - comes to mind.

very cool

Ralph Jones from Detroit, United States

I think I like this one best.
@ Viewfinder, more Monk than Miles, Monk was playful and whimsical, while Miles was cool and blue.

@Ralph Jones: Thanks, Ralph - and in black lace - this is my pick, too. Not wishing to split hairs here - I love both artists - but Cole strikes me as rather cool and aloof in this one. Tomorrow - we see NiCole as playful and whimsical. Monk-keying around. Best...
