Lincoln Park Golf Course - Sea Cliff - San Francisco

This is the famed 17th hole - running along the high bluff above land's end - where The Golden Gate opens to The Pacific Ocean.

[tomorrow]: we've been heading further west each day - why stop now?

Anthony Morgan Lambert from Bielefeld(old West Wales boy), Germany

Do you play or was it just a photo safari !!

14 Feb 2010 11:50am

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: I played when I was a kid. Looking back I realize that it was probably the Vietnam War that had me quit. My focus became political. My arrival in San Francisco in 1970 also presented much distraction with activities more centered around drugs, sex, and rock-n-roll. Golf was establishment - and I was now part of a culture and movement that stood against it. We thought we would change the world - and to some degree we did. But I never let a three-iron get between me and a good walk after that. It is amazing - the things that impact our lives.

The 'safari' continues tomorrow.

And it's the foreman of this park golf ???

14 Feb 2010 12:59pm

@JPS: Not the foreman (starter, here) - just two friends out on a very rainy Saturday morning. This fellow is lining up his long putt. His partner can be seen next to the golf cart up along the far side of the fairway. He made his shot while I took this capture and it went into a bunker to the right of the green. Little penalty on this day - the sand was so soaked with rain that his ball didn't penetrate at all - sitting atop the trap like a waiting tee-shot.

go on, give it a go again,

14 Feb 2010 6:45pm

@Alun: Nah, Alun - sorry - this is not going to happen. I'm too old a dog for that trick. I'd rather be walking with camera and tripod.

Yesterday's hint of what was coming today had me thinking about something mysterious-- I smiled when I saw the green! This is a fun safari!

14 Feb 2010 9:10pm

@David: Ah, the key to good marketing - establish suspense! Now, what green time should I write you down for? Will that be Visa or MasterCard?

Tamara from Aarschot, Belgium

A very nice sport ! And San Francisco has a lot of beautiful greens I heard ! Beautiful image :)
