Cathy - 17 Years at The Farmer's Market

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 17 January 2010 in Food & Cuisine and Portfolio.

A former lawyer - Cathy traded her briefs for beets and a healthy and happy life. Should you find yourself at her stand, here's a tip - buy the walnuts! Yum.

We can clearly see the freshness of her products for your shot. Georgeous colors and a friendly smile!

Nice smile and cold ambience compose a beautiful image. The products install the light and color in this cold morning shot, great!

a friend of mine went from laywer to baker,,,,and loves it !

@alex centrella: If we could get about 80% of them to make similar transitions - especially those in politics - we might create a better world (and eat better, too!)

David from Detroit, United States

This version is certainly more of a portrait. I liked the action in yesterday's version, including the moving pedestrians in the background. This one has a much happier mood. Different photos!

@David: I presented Cathy a print of her portrait - which is one reason I posted it. But I agree with you David, the first post is a much stronger composition. Thanks for checking in.

Definitely a fine display for a Farmer's Market, so fresh looking and appealing. Excellent shot Stephen, like the foreground colors and tones.

What else did you buy,it all looks so fresh... it´s a shame that most peoplehere in Germany think Americans only eat fast food.I´ll have to show this shot to a few people

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Hey there Anthony - thank you for spreading the word. Farmer's Markets are huge in the San Francisco area. Every little community seems to have one at least once a week. The largest one is Saturdays around the Ferry Building in San Francisco - along the bay. It covers an enormous area and is a sight to behold. Many of my friends are like me - never going to any fast food place. Why eat that crap when you can have a tart apple and some good soft cheese for the same price? (and no bag of trash to throw away when you're done)

Somehow I kind of envy her career choice. Surely she is a much happier person without the headaches and ulcers she might have had behind the bar.

I'm surprised she showed you her briefs...or their absence.

19 Jan 2010 2:37am

@Twelvebit: I only read between her briefs - but she let me handle her beets! You are a national treasure John, and we miss you when you disappear. Welcome back.

Cailean from Bielefeld, Germany

Those peppers look good! Nice picture
