Early Arrivals - Farmer's Market

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 16 January 2010 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

Vendors beginning to show up more than an hour before the scheduled start of the Oakland Farmer's Market along the estuary at Jack London Square. Brave souls with beautiful food on a chill and foggy morning.

un premier plan très coloré et un arrière plan plus mystérieux où l'on sent une ambiance de froid, c'est bien vu

Excellent point of view, the produce as seen by the seller!

I like the way the wide angle lens drives the composition. The strong colors in the vegetables and the hoody allow the mist top third of the frame act as a background rather than detract.

I echo the words of David, beautifully !!!!

I like the wide angle foreground; great colors. Looks pretty chilly that morning.

I love farmers markets - so much to look at (both people and the goods for sale!).....I love the colors and shapes in this - contrasted nicely with the drab fog.....

17 Jan 2010 1:54am

@ordinaryimages: Three Months !?! - we'll be chomping on local artichokes and strawberries by then !

Self-Indulgence from Chicagoland, United States

Great color in the backdrop of a very gray day. The tents seem to be far spaced too making for a cold walk through the market!

17 Jan 2010 3:33am

@Self-Indulgence: It was early and the day chill and gray - those empty spaces fill in - it is generally a very crowded affair. Thanks for dropping by.

sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

I've never seen a farmer's market in cold weather. You chose a terrific vantage point for this.

17 Jan 2010 3:39am

@sherri: Thanks Sherri - most of the Bay Area Farmer's Markets go year round. Thanks for the visit.

Scott F. Schilling from San Martin, United States

Great point of view Stephen and this makes my mouth water!! I like the colors in this also - the warmth of the peppers against the cold fog!

17 Jan 2010 4:00am

@Scott F. Schilling: ...and less than 3 blocks out my front door! I am so lucky, Scott. I'm finding photographing food is not fattening.

Anthony Morgan Lambert from Bielefeld(old West Wales boy), Germany
