@ordinaryimages: It might have been just as well, Jerry - I was surprised to see this bridge open (over Kearny Street - which is where this image was captured). It was gated the previous couple times I came by and I have no idea who controls it or what the hours and criteria are for opening it. The loading area for the Holiday Inn is directly below and I've actually seen kids hurling firecrackers off the walkway to where the doorman was standing - so there are issues...

Portsmouth Square is lovely in either case - I will try to post some more images soon. In the morning - lots of residents out practicing their daily Tai-Chi routine. This particular Sunday morning there was a group of eight or more - working with swords. Beautiful photo op...
