Cab on Columbus Avenue

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 11 December 2009 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

North Beach in San Francisco

Mike, from Lichfield in the United Kingdom requested an image that might show off Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope Building a little better. So, Mike - this one's for you.

Three of my favorite San Francisco buildings dominate this image. The green copper-plated Zoetrope at center. The white and pointed TransAmerica Pyramid to the left - and the tall brown building to the right - The 52-story Bank of America Building. Not a fan of the institution - but this building is an amazing piece of architecture.

Tomorrow - a variation of this image that's a real departure...

I've always felt peculiar at this intersection, something like what part of Disneyland am I in.

San Francisco est une belle ville dont tu sais nous montrer la belle folie urbaine

@Marie LC: Je soupçonne que San Francisco est près du sommet des centres 'de folie' - quoique Paris puisse être ou égal. Oui ?

Michael from Shell Village, United Kingdom

This is beautiful, I love those strange buildings, but on the same note I could feel quite at home there.

There are two elements that just pop out at me, the huge chunk of green building in the centre, and the taxi cab, which looks as though it has jumped off the road. A really interesting and animated scene.

@Curly: Thanks Curly - I hope you are able to take in tomorrow's post of the same subject - it be even mo' animated.

Garfield from Ancaster Ontario, Canada

Like the cab on the move in the picture. Pure, yet not overpowering light. Nice.

What an elegant (green) building in the center - the yellow cab adds a interesting counterpoint to this stately structure and the ones around!
