@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Ah, thanks for asking, Anthony - this is our baseball stadium. The left-field foul pole is visible inside the gate near center - brightly lit by the morning sun. FYI

Chris from South Jersey, United States

great lighting here, and I love the look inside the empty ballpark......not like out here in Philly where our ball park is still being used!!!! GO PHILS!!

29 Oct 2009 5:29pm

@Chris: Hey Chris - thanks and congratulations! You have in me - an old Washington Senators fan (old by definition). We lost the Senators twice - once to the Twins - and then again to the Rangers. I moved to San Fransisco in 1970 and discovered the National League through the Giants and have never looked back. Now I know what REAL baseball is all about. Your Phillies have my support against the dread yanks.

Marcie from Newton, United States

Love the sense of emptiness. Great light!

cool shot.....is that what was once called PacBell? If so, it's my FAVORITE stadium in the world!!! And glad to hear my Phillies are being cheered on out there!!!

Yonatan from Bronx, United States

Very nice shot Stephen. I appreciate your B&W choice for portrayal of the sunrise, a time that most of us are used to seeing in full color. Personally, I'm a hockey fan, and can't wait for the baseball to finish, but I do appreciate your work inside this stadium. Since the info is not posted by default, may I ask what your aperture was for this shot? It seems to be quite narrow as I can see a lot in focus, but my untrained eye could use a little education.

@Yonatan: Thanks for the visit. I'm always happy to provide data:

Canon 5D w/ Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 lens: ISO 50 - at 16mm - f/4.5 for 1/80th second - on tripod

Yonatan - this lens has a high native depth-of-field - but I suggest this image proves a good example on the benefits of using a good sturdy tripod. I applied moderate sharpening in Photoshop.

Super B&w in this rich compo, Stephen*
