Be honest now Stephen, I don't think the oak tree was at the forefront of your mind was it? :) But joking apart, this is a very good photo. Leaving the long grass in the foreground and placing the model higher in the frame works very well and the fallen tree trunk on the right balances the picture perfectly. There's lots of wonderful texture in the rotting wood and your exposure is perfect retaining detail in the sky. I also like the fact that the model's face is mostly obscured by her hair leaving a little to the imagination. The depth of field appears to be excellent too. All in all it's a very good professional image that I'm in no doubt about you're extremely pleased with.

@Mike: Well, Mike - to be honest, there are two separate considerations around your question:
We were driving along having already gotten in some pretty amazing work. Marissa was at my side when I came around a corner and saw this tree. At that moment - my excitement and focus were completely directed towards the tree. I had to look and see if there would be a safe and reasonable means to access the site. And voila - there was a big hole in the barbed-wire fence along the road - right at the closest point! Now I was really thrilled at seeing the tree. Which gets to your second point:
I know from experience that as I set my tripod - the dear and lovely Marissa has a habit of shedding her garb. So, at that point, I'd let you make the call, and besides...
I had light readings to take.
Almost looks like a scene out of the biblical garden of Eden. Love the composition and mood you've set up and created.

As Mike has said, the composition is magnificent.
I like these branches that seem to go to embrace the nymph of the forrest :)
Good soft b/w and beautiful model.

Very nice with this B&W…

The way you've composed this shot and Marissa has posed, she appears to be a wood nymph emerging right out of the mists of Greek mythology. So while the lighting and contrasts seem perfect, I am not altogether sure you were really so focused on taking light readings... heh.
