Rain Clouds Over The Siskiyous

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 23 March 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Shasta Valley (near Gazelle) - California

The beginning of a short series of images from my travels last week. This photograph was the first exposure on the trip. I'd driven up through some intense rains and was grateful for this break - to get out of the car and grab this capture. I headed east from here on some dirt and gravel roads to capture some more before the rain caught up with me once again.

[notebook]: please forgive my not being much involved with A Minus 3 this past week and for the next few days. I was away and am now buried in work that must be completed - and soon. Greetings to you all...

the sky and mountains are amazing. but it's that little trickle of well lit water in the ditch that add the extra umph for me.

23 Mar 2009 4:24pm

@grant: thanks, Grant - it was that silvery trickle of water that had me applying the brakes...

Scott Schilling from San Martin, United States

Stephen, a beautiful photography - this area of California is so spectacular! I love the rain or snow coming down in the distance and the mountains - wonderful work!

23 Mar 2009 4:25pm

@Scott Schilling: Pretty safe bet it was both rain and snow - just a matter of elevation. Thanks.

Beautiful shot. That pesky rain can mess up photo plans.

@Steve Rice: Oh, Steve - I must take exception - rain is a wonderful shooting opportunity so long as we can keep the camera dry and the lens clear.
