First Light at Mission Bay

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 2 February 2009 in Cityscape & Urban.

San Francisco

Construction on this development seems unabated despite the recession. This is the largest planned urban center in the city's history. It was being planned when I arrived here in 1970 and is finally becoming manifest.

The University of California - San Francisco campus is the principal tenant in the area. Medical research is the driving force. The skyline seems to change almost daily.

Great night lights! The bridge looks so very small. Healthcare is the biggest employer in Michigan now so we also have continuous construction of the next bigger and better medical center.

@hugo poon: Thanks, Hugo - I'm hoping to get some shots here with clouds in the sky (our rainy season has been very clear and dry). This view will soon be gone as construction in this area is exploding.
