...OK everyone - If you aren't already aware of it - there is now a group at Facebook™ just for us...

We are now over thirty members strong and growing. You need to join Facebook (which is free) in order to be part of the group. The advantage to Facebook is that we can be more personal with one another and drone on about things outside of photography - that wouldn't be appropriate here.

We are starting to look at a framework for what we will be doing with the group going forward. If you want to be part of this - please join us now.

Find any administrator to get an invitation to the group once you're on Facebook:

Love the angle and depth in this one, it makes it feel very large! cool shot, and I would love to see it in black and white too.

Beautiful morning, beautiful light... and excellent perspective... incredible colors on the buildings...move away, the tram is coming !

9 Jan 2009 3:37pm

@Francesc B.: Thanks for the safety 'head's-up' - I was set on the tram's (streetcar) pedestrian island.

Rui from Leiria, Portugal

I'm on it! This morning we were 68...
Awesome street shot! Beautiful light and perspective. You were in the middle of the street?

9 Jan 2009 5:32pm

@Rui: Thanks for the visit and kind words. You have me very confused. What do you mean - we were 68? You aren't 68 - I've seen that photo of you on your profile page. (I was on the streetcar's safety island)

Another wonderful shot of the city, I have never visited there your shots are making me want to plan a visit

re your comment on a balmy 40Degrees there, I would be happy if we made it to a high of that temp soon LOL It messed up my morning walk and shoot today when I got to the city at 6:40 the temp wwas somewhere around 20 I think, too cold for me this day to get my camera out of the bag went straight to work LOL

9 Jan 2009 9:01pm

@JJ: Sounds like sense and sensibility to me. Have a great weekend.

sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

Oh, I love seeing the trolley lines and rails. Nice intersection and you captured it so well.

10 Jan 2009 12:09am

Observing from West Cheshire, United Kingdom

What an incredible image, are the buildings new, or just very clean...?

10 Jan 2009 2:56am

@Observing: Thanks, Mike. The tallest building on the right is new - all the other buildings have been around a long, long time. It is early in the morning and the streets and sidewalks get a thorough cleaning each night.

Suzanne from Huntington Bch, United States

Wonderful cityscape. I like the building on the tcorner, was that a theatre at one time?

10 Jan 2009 5:33pm

@Suzanne: Thanks Suzanne. And, no - the Virgin Megastore on the far left corner was a men's store named 'Grodin's' - and the 'Ross Store' on the right was a department store named 'Roos-Atkin's'. The theater district is two blocks behind me as I take this. The 'Golden Gate' - 'Warfield' - and 'Orphium' theaters along Market Street - and many more just off Union Square - to the left, including 'A.C.T.' - 'The Curran' - 'Stage Door' - and 'Off-the-Square' theaters.

willow from Chelsea, United States

Great perspective - I like all the lines leading the eye up the hill.
