San Francisco Sunrise

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 4 January 2009 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

One beautiful morning...

If you look carefully - you'll see a slice of the moon hanging here - on the left. Today we're beginning a tour of San Francisco - and I can't think of a better time to start than the crack of dawn.

Taken from Telegraph Hill on December 23rd, 2008 - at 7:04 AM. (sunrise @ 7:23 AM)

Canon 5D w/16-35mm f/2.8 lens at 16mm - ISO 50 - f/ 6.3 for 2.5 seconds.

We have some family coming in from LA for 6 days, they are staying downtown near Union Square and we have a packed itinerary starting tomorrow morning in Sausalito and Tiburon. The fun part is we get a bit of a vacation ourselves in the best city in America. :) Happy New Year.

@Tracy Martin: Enjoy your trip - the forecast for tomorrow is showers but the rest of the week is supposed to be clear, warm, and dry - have a great time.

Enjoy your time out touring the city,
Although many may differ including my other half, I do agree the crack of dawn is the best time to start

Beautiful shot! But are those really lights on or rather the sunrise reflecting on the glass? Nice to see a bit of green grass in a cityscape, too!

4 Jan 2009 8:05pm

@Lesley: Both. Lights within the canyons of concrete. Sunbeams reflecting upon the upper floors of glass. Cheers!
