Viewfinder from Bradenton, United States

Awesome. I did not know grape vines had such vivid autumn colors.

12 Dec 2008 2:30pm

@Viewfinder: I was surprised too,initially - and in the very early spring the vineyards display fields of mustard and lavender between the grapes - used as a second cash crop and for oxidation. This produces another round of surprising colors throughout the wine growing regions of Napa, Sonoma, and Mendicino.

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

OUtstanding, I can see why Napa is so often a setting in's art

12 Dec 2008 2:39pm

@Lorraine: To support your observation; in 1880, author Robert Louis Stevenson honeymooned an entire summer near here - with his bride, Fanny Osbourne. They lived at an abandoned mine on Mount St. Helena - the highest summit in this wine growing region. Their view would have included this spot as well as much of the Napa Valley.

Alphons from Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands

Marvellous light and fine contrasting colours in a good composition. Well done!

melodia from ffm, Germany

the colors look like they've almost died ... don't you have winter yet?
love this atmosphere with the light in the background...

12 Dec 2008 8:45pm

@melodia: No winter here (yeah !) - The San Francisco Bay Area is in the 'Medderteranian' climate type - as you would find in Italy and along the Riviera. We have a long summer drought and wet winter from November into early April. Snow, below 1000 meters is very rare.

Fénix from Portugal

Great layers.

@Fénix: Thanks for stopping by.
