So beautiful, Stephen. An unusual shot of this strong bridge. The fog adds something special. Your little white frame is fitting very well.

Great shot. Looking at those ocean swells made me a bit queasy. I like that fact that you add a new perspective to an often photographed icon.

Beautiful and mysterious. I like your perspective in this image.

4 Oct 2008 1:57pm

@willow: Thanks, willow - this was a magical morning for photographing the Golden Gate. I took some images here - then went up above and got some impressive images - then went across to the north end of the span and captured some more. The light kept changing, but it was all really good.

Viewfinder from Bradenton, United States

A truly awesome perspective on this great American icon. This pic deserves framing.

This is the closest I've ever been to the iconic bridge, it's massive, and the swell is clearly seen against the foundation. Now I want to see it for real....... do you do B & B ?

Now there's a place I'd love to lay my eyes on someday. I like your underneath capture and love the fog.

@sherri: Never put off until tomorrow - what you can view today!

Get you and John under The Gate soon. What the heck - make it a real adventure and bring Evie, too.

What a great capture of a potentially over-shot SF icon. The light and fog are just right, and the lines actually imply the size and strength it is. Outstanding!

I love the strong lines of the bridge and the softness of the light. Great capture.

excellent shot! very impressive indeed -- and i love this detail on the foot of the bridge which usually is quite overlooked! marvelous!!

Emily Ng from Adelaide, Australia

unusal POV. dont think i ever saw a shot focused on the underbelly of the bridge! the fog gives great depth

is it image compression or are there rivets on the X of the bridge?

8 Oct 2008 6:37pm

@Emily Ng: Not compression - lots of rivets. Large rivets are what hold this whole thing together.

Louise from Toronto, Canada

Beautiful shot. Makes me want to go back to San Fran!

@Louise: Well, Louise - it was beautiful here today - what's keeping you?
