Loleta Dairy - glass bricks !

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 22 September 2008 in Business & Industry and Portfolio.

Once the center of commerce to this town - the dairy is now closed. The buildings are for sale. This processing plant covers more than a large city block in area. I can't imagine what might save this group of buildings.

I love glass bricks.

No kidding, phenomenally taken, I love all types of glass and bricks, this really works :) Yeah I can imagine the expense, oh la la, here's a dream (but I'm too broke) Make it a Aminus3 Photo Centre, and of course all would contribute to its re-construction, maintenance, rent and studio equipment lol...Yeah I dream big :)

@Lorraine: Lorraine - you touch my heart. Oh, how I agree with your vision. However the truth is that all of the things that make Loleta charming - act as an obstruction to having many uses for this place make sense.

Just getting here is problematic. The airport is just as far north of Eureka as this is south - meaning a long trek just to fly in and out. The nearest city is San Francisco - a six hour drive. The summers here tend to be cool and mild - and frequently overcast. The winter months - from late October through April - see over 60 inches ( 152 cm ) of rain soaking the area. Alas - a challenge to those who appreciate sunshine.

An unusual perspective, but gives an idea of being higher. Those orange bricks and the glass bricks form an interesting architecture. Well done. Thanks Stephen

Beautiful shot Stephen! Good idea to take the sink roof in it, it makes a great composition.

Sometimes we forget to just look up. And sometimes, perspective works best from an ant's view (according to Pop Photo this month). Having visited this yesterday, I am really enjoying this perspective shot from low. Nice creative touch to today's photo.
