Gathering Storm

A small farm near Gilchrist, Oregon

This image from a series of storms that rumbled through the Cascades and Central Oregon over several days last week. The storms produced three tornadoes and a 14 year-old boy was hit by lightning. Rare for the Pacific Northwest.

@Susan: Your comment amuses me in that my dad took me to see "The Wizard of Oz" when I was 5 years old. I was terrified as the tornado approached and screamed out loud in the movie house. Soon, the black and white film changed to color - the wicked witch was crushed - and things seemed to go right from then on (except for that detour amongst the poppies) - oh, the metaphors...
