Lost Coast of Humboldt County

California

Southern most point of Humboldt County Route 211 along the Pacific Coast. The northern point where the road reaches the beach is at that large rock 'haystack' in the distance. The section runs a mere 5 kilometers (3 miles) - and beach access is limited as much of the area is fenced and posted. But the up side is a beautiful drive through amazing country with very little traffic.

Should you plan to do this drive, I suggest the winter or early spring when the creeks and rivers are full. From mid-summer through the autumn - these streams are dry. The grasses - gold.

Three more images follow as we return to Highway 101.
