Stephen, these nighttime photographs with the clouds and lights are spectacular. The sky has some great details and the buildings are alive with light and color - another great shot!
If you are near a store called Photograph at 2298 Chestnut Street (at Scott) let me know what you think of the front display case??

@Scott Schilling: Thanks Scott. As to 'Photography' - I know the store well - though I haven't been there in a couple of months. I use them when I need a quality cut mat in a hurry. I've approached them a couple of times about displaying images there but never heard back from them. What's with the case?

I like very much the light of this photo. The rain puts a special light in the atmosphere and you shot your camera in the right time to catch it, in the houses and in the sky.

@Susan: Thanks, Susan - the key is Adobe Lightroom as Monterey John has been discussing. It allows one to easily get the maximum out of shooting 'RAW' files. A great processing tool.

very nice night capture! I wish i had the opportunity to set a tripod on a rooftop and get shots of san francisco. unfortunately, i don't. It is a stormy feel in this photo but you captured it nicely!

@grant: Thanks Grant - if one thing has really changed in my personal approach to photography, it is asking myself the question you suggest here which is, - "what am I looking at?" I have spent several years coming at imagery with the notion of conveying the 'feel' around what I see. Now I see myself becoming more selective about what it is I choose to invite to that journey.

great shot! exposure is spot on and composition good too! i like the shaprness and clarity as well as the fact that the sky/background has a nice shade to it rather than usual pitch black...

@DarkElf: Your comments are so appreciated - thanks. That sky is what drew me to the capture. The rain clouds were just high enough to leave the city view clear - yet low enough to really catch the glow of the city lights.
