Scott Schilling from San Martin, United StatesStephen, these nighttime photographs with the clouds and lights are spectacular. The sky has some great details and the buildings are alive with light and color - another great shot! If you are near a store called Photograph at 2298 Chestnut Street (at Scott) let me know what you think of the front display case?? 24 Feb 2009 6:12am @Scott Schilling: Thanks Scott. As to 'Photography' - I know the store well - though I haven't been there in a couple of months. I use them when I need a quality cut mat in a hurry. I've approached them a couple of times about displaying images there but never heard back from them. What's with the case? Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainI like very much the light of this photo. The rain puts a special light in the atmosphere and you shot your camera in the right time to catch it, in the houses and in the sky. 24 Feb 2009 12:30pm dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesLove what the rain does to the lighting. This is a very cool wide angle shooting from "behind" the city with the skyline in the distance. Well done. 24 Feb 2009 12:50pm Marcie from United StatesLove the soft colors..the lights. Stunning night image. 24 Feb 2009 1:09pm Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaThis is so amazingly clear, wow, the details and colours are stupendous, bravo STephen ! 24 Feb 2009 2:58pm hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongVery lovely clarity and serenity... beautiful mood of a rainy night! The lighting and tonality are wonderful, as always.:-) 24 Feb 2009 3:31pm Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceThis night shot is very interesting. The reflection of the rain on the reef is very nice 24 Feb 2009 5:22pm Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesA cool, wet night shot. I spotted the light reflecting off the roof too. I like it. 24 Feb 2009 5:31pm peter from new york, United Statessuch excellent tones and colors in this awesome night shot : ) 24 Feb 2009 5:32pm Anthony Lambert from Bielefeld, GermanyA great night scene,so much to take in !! 24 Feb 2009 5:57pm Chris from South Jersey, United Statesthe colors are amazing - you do a great job with these night shots.... 24 Feb 2009 6:07pm Suzanne from Huntington Bch, California, United StatesThe beautiful lights from the buildings combined with the cloudy sky creates wonderful amdience. 24 Feb 2009 6:18pm Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceLike these delicate colours and the geometric design of different roofs and buildings. 24 Feb 2009 10:08pm @Evelyne Dubos: Thanks Evelyne - I appreciate the comment Magda from CanadaSo pretty... very soft and delicate. I like the reflections in the wet roofs 25 Feb 2009 12:05am Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United StatesWow, this is just an amazing shot!!! Almost looks kind of HDR'ish!!! Just fabulous!! 25 Feb 2009 12:09am @Susan: Thanks, Susan - the key is Adobe Lightroom as Monterey John has been discussing. It allows one to easily get the maximum out of shooting 'RAW' files. A great processing tool. Liang from San Francisco, United Statesvery nice night capture! I wish i had the opportunity to set a tripod on a rooftop and get shots of san francisco. unfortunately, i don't. It is a stormy feel in this photo but you captured it nicely! 25 Feb 2009 12:47am @Liang: Liang - you determine whether or not you can do something. I suggest you grab a tripod and give it a try! Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesWhat a vibrant and rolling cityscape that you have captured here! 25 Feb 2009 3:33am @Steven: Thanks for the kind words, Steven. EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomYou've really captured avibrancy with this image, a certain quality that breathes life into the scene. Superbly detailed work 25 Feb 2009 4:23am @EYES WIDE SHUT: Thanks so very much. I lived in this quirky neighborhood for a couple of years (long ago) - and part of my spirit is still wed to these streets and rooftops. grant from kansas city, United Statesthis light and view just demands a long look - really fine! 25 Feb 2009 4:29am @grant: Thanks Grant - if one thing has really changed in my personal approach to photography, it is asking myself the question you suggest here which is, - "what am I looking at?" I have spent several years coming at imagery with the notion of conveying the 'feel' around what I see. Now I see myself becoming more selective about what it is I choose to invite to that journey. DarkElf from Perth, Australiagreat shot! exposure is spot on and composition good too! i like the shaprness and clarity as well as the fact that the sky/background has a nice shade to it rather than usual pitch black... 25 Feb 2009 4:44am @DarkElf: Your comments are so appreciated - thanks. That sky is what drew me to the capture. The rain clouds were just high enough to leave the city view clear - yet low enough to really catch the glow of the city lights. sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesBeautiful capture. The colors are so subtle. 25 Feb 2009 3:39pm |
