Liang from San Francisco, United Statesvery near where I'm at. I live in Vallejo! =D 23 Feb 2009 6:51am @Liang: You are blessed Liang. Vallejo, Crocket, Benicia, Napa, and all the countryside up there is ripe with photo opportunities. yz from Budapest, Hungaryit's only the sign that can keep some color in the overcast weather 23 Feb 2009 7:46am Mike from Lichfield, United KingdomIt all looks a bit overly complicated. We have a complex motorway structure near Birmingham called Spaghetti Junction for obvious reasons. Nice interesting photo. 23 Feb 2009 8:06am @Mike: I guess we can be thankful there's no meatball atop the mess! Scott Schilling from San Martin, United StatesDear Stephen, another good composition of structures and form - I like the yellow sign for added visual interest. I like the view and the engineering form and wondering where all of these go?? 23 Feb 2009 8:25am @Scott Schilling: Thanks so much, Scott. For a view go to this link and click on 'view map': Marcie from United StatesLove the composition..the almost abstract shapes and lines and forms. 23 Feb 2009 12:53pm Anthony Lambert from Bielefeld, GermanyI´ve just started catching up with blog visiting after being ill,I´ve missed some cracking work of yours I see Stephen !! 23 Feb 2009 1:09pm @Anthony Lambert: Great to hear from you and welcome back, Anthony. Your presence has been missed and I hope you're doing well. And thanks... Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United StatesSeems there are Spaghetti Junctions everywhere!!! Cool shot!! 23 Feb 2009 1:13pm @Susan: And this one is tiny compared to our mother of interchanges in the southern part of San Jose. There, Interstate Highways 680 and 280 meet with U.S. Highway 101 in a colossal three-tier plate of linguine! I need to see about getting a shot of that! peter from new york, United Statessome great curves here and i love the splash of yellow 23 Feb 2009 4:04pm k@ from Paris, FranceFizzz-Fizzzzzz-Fizzzzzzzzzzzzz ! Love how all this combines, a great bravo ! 23 Feb 2009 4:35pm @k@: Well, I'm nominating this for 'comment of the year'. My nose now itches. Cheers, k@! Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceVery nice composition, specially with this sign 23 Feb 2009 5:38pm Rui from Leiria, PortugalSo many curves and a splash of yellow sending us, both ways, as if we entered in a non stopping carrousel. 23 Feb 2009 5:58pm Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesThat does seem huge with those sweeping curved sections. An ode to the automobile. 23 Feb 2009 6:08pm Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, Spainit's really terrible that knot of highways. I imagine it seen from the air. 23 Feb 2009 6:11pm @Paco Díaz: Hey, Francisco - thanks. Aerial view here - click on 'view map' then click on 'satellite' - DenisSm from Prague, Czech Republicvery clear information..split here and go both sides at once....modern world :-)) 23 Feb 2009 6:24pm @DenisSm: Thanks, Denis. This image is at the same time - as old as mankind. A contemporary look at the proverbial - fork in the road... chrissy from uk, United Kingdomgood composition, th sign is the only bit of colour 23 Feb 2009 8:07pm MontereyJohn from Salinas, California, United StatesSpaghetti Junction :) Now, where on earth is Crocket??? 23 Feb 2009 8:24pm @MontereyJohn: It is Crockett. One picture = 10,000 words. Go here and then click 'view map': John Maslowski from Dallas,PA, United StatesFascinating capture Stephen Excellent framing of this superhighway. Love all the diagonals and curves. Interesting sign, kind of comical in a way, like asking which way should I go and someone say that way and pointing in both directions. 23 Feb 2009 10:17pm Yonatan from Bronx, United StatesNice perspective. I would really like to sit down at a meeting where the engineers get together and figure out this whole mess of an interchange. 23 Feb 2009 11:50pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesOne of those malfunction junction scenes. I'm surprised you were able to stop and capture this. 24 Feb 2009 2:25am @sherri: You'll laugh I'm sure - no stopping was necessary. I was parked in a parking lot at a trail head to a hiking path! Hi ho hi ho - to asphalt we will go.... Stunner from Kingston, JamaicaGreat shot! I like how you captured the many overpasses. 24 Feb 2009 3:32am EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomThe splash of colour in a sea of concrete, works so neatly here, Stephen. The tangle of mankind and the blight of the landscape as we forrage ever further, making more roads that get us nowhere faster. Superbly presented 24 Feb 2009 4:24am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesReminds me of my recent freeway terror in Houston. 24 Feb 2009 4:29pm grant from kansas city, United Stateswell captured. it makes me nervous just looking. 25 Feb 2009 4:30am @grant: My portfolio has many images taken within a mile of where I grabbed this capture. I find myself fascinated by this historic village of 3200 people - divided so decisively by this colossal freeway interchange. There are many facets to this place - from the boccie court to the eclectic houses - each one with a completely unique personality. |
