Christmas Troubadour

Posted by
Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 26 December 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Playing beautifully on a rainy Christmas Eve in San Francisco. He moved back and forth effortlessly between Christmas songs and traditional Chinese music using a traditional Chinese string instrument. Seated beneath the window of Molinari's Delicatessen in North Beach.

[notebook]: this was a last minute substitution to this post. He was happy I was taking his photograph and added much to my Christmas Eve.

A superb portrait, with fabulous detail and tones. You've created an essence of the ambience, and I can almost hear the music flowing as I view the scene.

A lovely street shot with beautiful toning. He seems to be all alone... I hope he had an audience...

@Mirko Herzner: For the several minutes I was there - I was his only audience.

I like this street portrait a lot… Because of the B&W, because of the window behind him with these Italian stuff…

I'm glad you added this one - it brought me a smile. I love seeing people who enjoy their art or music or whatever their passion is as much as he obviously enjoys singing. Your images while I've been gone are wonderful as always - this one is probably my favorite (or maybe the great big red christmas balls???) Hope you holidays have been great and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work over the new year.

Like my favorite christmas movie, "It's a Wonderful Life", some things like this photo were meant to be shot in b/w. Please do not show me the color in this photo, because I see more in this photo through your lens in b/w.
