The Old Bank

Bank of Loleta

When the dairy closed down in 1993 - I'm sure it spelled the end for this center of finance and commerce. This building now serves as Loleta's Social Services Center. Hours are 9 to 1 - Monday through Friday.

The facade of the bank is quite grand compared to its neighbors, even with gold trim above the doors.

I can't imagine any crime in Loleta....

@Observing: ...nor can I. It's a quiet little place on the hill. A county sheriff's car is parked in front of one of the houses well up the hill. It has been parked there every time I've driven through. I've never seen anyone in the car - and I've never seen it move.

@Kylie Greenan: In Humboldt County, California - its hard to loose that bet. Anytime - but especially from now until spring - it is pretty much always just before the rain, the rain, or just after the rain. They get over 60 inches of rain a year (152 cm).

This is really funny. The small bank building designed like serious huge buildings, the surrounding surrealistic buildings, the tipsy lamppost - and the cherry on the pie: ms pink trousers.

This could be a scene from any number of small towns from across the country. I like the biker and also the dog in the scene - makes the scene seem warmer, friendlier.

Could this actually be the real Rockridge or the fake Rockridge? (Blazing Saddles) The facades look almost fake like a movie set. I wonder what is going into the space next to the bank? Looks like they are fixing it up for a new storefront.

is it just me -- or is that street lamp really REALLY big? quite surreal! oh -- and hey, don't think gbe noticed, but you are moving quite stealthily into his typical 'arena' of shop front shots! ;) beautifully done, excellent contrasts and colors too!
