The Town on a Hill - redux

Posted by Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 3 November 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Loleta. We are almost back from our Saturday morning drive out to Cannibal Island. This view really provides a feel for how the town is situated.

The primary highway through this part of California - Highway 101 ( "The Redwood Highway" ) runs along a crease in the coastal hills just beyond those trees at the top of the ridge. The provides convenient access for Loleta, yet allows for real stillness in town. There is no 'business route' - no 'downtown loop'. Just an exit marked, Loleta.
