Labor Day

Today marks the end of this three day weekend in the United States - as we say farewell to summer...

Labor Day in Santa Cruz, California - part of The Wharf is in the foreground - just beyond the beach is the Boardwalk's 'Giant Dipper' roller coaster - and the lower coastal mountains set the background.

@Betty: Not just a wooden coaster - it is a great ride. The start is a plunge through a very tight "S" curve in total darkness! Once the coaster straightens out - you then see the 'light at the end of the tunnel' and the chain ahead that will pull you up to the top of the ride. Magnificent!

All the fun of the beach and fair....! It's a great holiday shot, and I enjoyed looking through the zones, from the boardwalk, the beach, the fair and finally to the residential hills. Lovely.

@Veronelle: Les embouteillages qui bouchent cette station balnéaire de vacances au cours de week-ends sont incroyable. Heureusement, je sais comment naviguer autour d'eux en utilisant les rues. J'ai quand même décidé de ne pas y aller ce week-end. Apprécier!

We were there Friday through Sunday and boy was it packed, you must have shot this from the lighthouse I am guessing. Happy Labor Day!

@Tracy: I'm glad to hear you survived the throngs of humanity - and Happy Labor Day back at you. The photograph was taken along West Cliff Drive - which goes out to the lighthouse - but much closer to where it begins - next to those hotels above The Wharf.
