Upright

A fabulous 1966 Ford '100' pick-up truck with an upright piano payload - sitting curbside in beautiful downtown Crockett, California.
Here I believe we may have encountered a harmonic convergence.

Oh dear! Being the owner of a beatuiful upright this image made me nervous and hope for the owner that there was no freak rain showers on the way! Well spotted and captured Stephen.

@Kylie Greenan: It is real rare that we get any rain at all between mid-April and October, here. However - I drove by the truck on Monday - more than a week after I took this image. The piano was still on the bed. It is parked out on the street during the daytime - in dry heat around 35° C (95° F) and then experiencing nighttime fog and mist with temperatures around 10° C (50° F). So, Kylie - do you know any good piano tuners? I know we're gonna need one...

@Lorraine: Actually, Lorraine - I'm not really 'into' trucks or cycles or sports ('cept baseball) - or much anything else along the testosterone trail. The lone exception being a train. "It takes a lot to laugh - it takes a train to cry."

Very nice shot ... Looks like the truck is obeying what is written on on the road "STOP".. and i guess when it starts moving again it will be a "musical journey"...

Do you ever see that 'Laurel & Hardy' film where they had to deliver a piano..? Hopefully this one will arrive safely, I can just imagine all the chords chiming and klanging as the truck drives along.

This looks a nice quiet town Stephen, not even any traffic lights. Do you have any more shots of Crokett ?

@Observing: I sure did! As I pointed out earlier - a week after I took the image - the piano was still on the truck. The only thing that had changed was a thick hemp rope had appeared and was wrapped and knotted around the piano payload. I'll be driving by Crockett today - on my way back into San Francisco. I'll stop by and see if there's been any piano progress. (report to follow...)

I learned to play on an old upright:-) This is vintage siting in vintage. Love the truck too. I'm surprised they actually use the truck for hauling.

@sherri: That's why I called this a harmonic convergence. Not only have both truck and piano been parked on the street - in the elements - for over a week. The truck is a hodge-podge. It's a F-100 Ford half-ton. The bumper is from an F-250 three-quarter ton. This is so 'Crockett'. A working class town of 3200 people - with three bars and two liquor stores - but also one of the most beautiful Bocci ball courts I've seen.
