She seemed in an eternal wait for a customer at The Dippin' Dots Ice Cream Stand,
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

The lighting and the way the passersby are looking at the young girl gives one the sense that she (The Dippin' Dots girl) is on display as part of the attractions. The B&W gives this a strong sense of nostalgia ... a scene out of my past.

wow -- this brings back memories -- i did my undergraduate @ UCSC... so of course we spent plenty of time on the boardwalk... i actually had 4 friends work there many of the summers. excellent lighting here and a wonderful capture of the vapid challenge of working at a theme park... ;)

The bright lights of the ice-cream bar should be inviting, however, the people are staying in the shadows, maybe to scared to approach the girl....!!

The lighting makes her look like she glows or maybe she's a wax statue on display. I agree - kind of creepy. But then that's what makes it so cool.

The lady with the stroller is a typical fast food customer. Step too close and you get a hurried "What do you want?". She appears to be in that state of quandary over which color or flavor to choose. And yet the girl behind the counter does not appear to be that much happier now that the new minimum wage has taken affect, thereby boosting her nightly income. Love the monochrome and do not even want to imagine it in color.
