hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongStephen, this is one of the images I enjoy most today! Beautiful scenery yet mysterious mood... particularly like how the picture is inspiring questions. 10 Aug 2008 6:46am Marie Le Corre from Voiron, FranceUn beau contraste de couleurs entre ce mauve rose du paysage et le panneau qui tranche sur l'ensemble 10 Aug 2008 7:01am Kylie Greenan from Richmond, AustraliaOh my gosh I cracked up laughing and had a bit of a coughing fit I was laughing so hard at this, I love it... just in case you didn't know...it goes this way! :o) Love the way you interpreted the sign and thanks for the great laugh! 10 Aug 2008 9:10am @Kylie Greenan: Your reply lit up my quiet morning - thanks. Actually, there is a very small road here - off to my right - that ends at this place. I believe the primary purpose of our yellow sign is in attempting to keep occupants of vehicles traversing that road - dry. @Veronelle: The name of this narrow highway is in fact, "River Road." Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceI agree with Marie... Beautiful contrasts between the control panel and the landscape...the orange yellow is complementary to mauve of the sky... I like the humor of the title too ! :)) 10 Aug 2008 11:18am @Francesc B.: Thank you. paulski from Muncie, IN, United Statesgreat shot here; excellently composed, and i too love the contrasts... 10 Aug 2008 12:41pm Renata from Häljarp, SwedenI agree with Hugo, this picture is the best shot today. Nice colors and funny too. 10 Aug 2008 3:20pm @Renata: Thank you so very much. And the river rolls on... Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomTwilight and Dusk are my favorite times of day. This image has a really nice glow to it, and I imagine absolute peace there. I like the perspective including the river and road, with the sign indicating opposing directions for both. 10 Aug 2008 4:25pm @Observing: A plug for 'first light' and dawn as well. As a photographer - one of the few downsides to living in San Francisco at this time of year - is that fog frequently obscures both of these periods. But - grab the camera and a short car ride away from The Gate - and there is our wonderful light... Laurent from Lyon, Franceexcellent shot! 10 Aug 2008 4:52pm dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United Stateshehe -- i love your penchant for urban street signage! :) wonderful light and evening tones here Stephen, so nice and misty... the tree behind the sign is so radiant -- almost a perfect circle... helps to circulate the eye to the distant lands in the background. seems quiet sleepy here -- and that is wonderful! 10 Aug 2008 5:28pm @dj.tigersprout: the search continues - Marcie from United StatesLove the soft ..muted colors of the sunset. The yellow sign adds a touch of humor. Nice!!! 10 Aug 2008 6:22pm kerfendal from Paris, Franceoriginal shot, the opposition of a complicated form of nature, and a human thing simple, colored which take all the place by its powerful color 10 Aug 2008 8:17pm Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceGreat colors contrast & composition and funny title.Well done. 10 Aug 2008 8:54pm Helma from Tehran, Iranthe color of the sky is stunning ! interesting shot with best prespective ! thanks 10 Aug 2008 9:05pm Thomas Griffioen from Bocas del Toro, PanamaWhat can I say? I totally agree with a lot of comments here! For sure it made me laugh! :-) 10 Aug 2008 9:17pm Rui from Leiria, PortugalLOL One of the best photos today. The detail of the yellow road sign contrasts with rest of the colors. And the title... couldn't be more appropriate and funny. 10 Aug 2008 10:47pm Anthony from GermanyWell seen, great shot.A wonderful feeling of space and distance I reckon. 11 Aug 2008 9:42am Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United StatesSorry I didn't get around to commenting on this one yesterday, Stephen, but I especially like the light lavender tone of the sky. It's very rare that we get that color here in Houston, and I haven't been able to catch it yet. 11 Aug 2008 10:42am @Eric Fry: Rare light here as well - and I love the yellow against it. This was one of those moments that only a photographer's heart would truly appreciate - I was grinning with excitement. Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesBeautiful light, terrific framing, clever ... 11 Aug 2008 1:02pm |
