Rainy CrossingPosted by Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 31 July 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. The Bay Bridge into San Francisco on a wet evening. [ photographer's notebook ]: I'm adding these thoughts in response to the comments you've written; I almost didn't post this image because I don't have any 'exif' data. It is however a cool capture - I'm grateful for all of the good feedback. I was, indeed driving. As is frequently the case in photography - luck was a factor here. I set-up for the possibility of trying this before getting on the freeway. There was a break in the rain and no one was in my lane behind me. I shot from above the open sunroof with a Canon Powershot G2 - using that wonderful flip screen. The water droplets are from mist being stirred up by the cars ahead - on the UV filter. The traffic was moving very slowly and I was able to do this safely. My guess is ISO 400 f/2.0 for probably 0.6 seconds (+/-) and 1st curtain which was fine as the vehicles were moving away from the camera. © copyright 2009 by Stephen Phillips Photography / San Francisco / www.joyoflight.com Your comments are invited.
