These rail cars sit idle along the lower Eel River - near the sleepy little community of Loleta. It had been stormy that morning and the colors here - to the best of my memory (and camera skills) - are accurate.

The beauty of the natural upper image provides a stark contrast to the heavy ugliness of the railway cars. It really is a kind of triumph of nature over man's ability to make the earth unpleasant.

@Michael Skorulski: ...what a powerful observation.
such beautiful blues!! i love the leftward motion of the tree branch adds the perfect hint of a diagonal. the sky is dynamic, yet soft and the added bonus of the bushes in front and the old train cars just behind add wonderful line and texture! marvelous!!!
@dj.tigersprout: These rails - so far as I can tell - are dead. Unusable. These rail cars look to have sat here for many, many years. So, they appear here almost as planter boxes for the trees behind them. A reverse bonsai garden on the deck of life.
Great photo, love the branches against the sky!

incredible the contrast between the top where everything is blue even the trees and the other part in grey and brown and the contrast between the vegetation and the stern iron wagons

I like the ambience yoy catched. Those blues give the shade to the atmosphere. The sky is also very god.

You know I love trains. Freight trains like this are typically what I see.
