A beautiful and serene flotilla of boats in fog graced this photoblog yesterday. Today is a whole other matter...

Here is a self-portrait - quite unplanned - that I took while walking down the street near my office, just a couple of hours ago. A sudden impulse on my fifty-ninth birthday. Surprise!

@dj.tigersprout: Hey, DJ - the day is almost over and it was very good, thank you. My brother was visiting from the Portland area and I rode with him well into the Sacramento Valley on the first leg of his drive home. We had lunch in Winters, California - he headed north and I took the train back to San Francisco. Many good photographs. More to follow...

@Ron: Ron - I don't know how old you are. I assure you this has nothing to do with 'brave'. And certainly not vanity. I've observed as I've aged - and especially over the past ten years or so - that there's a liberating tendency to simply not care about what it looks like, sounds like - or what people think. Period.

This image really did start with an accidental exposure. It did inspire me to try a couple more - of which this is one. Frankly, I posted it because I liked it. It's quirky. (and a little frightening)
