' F ' Line at Dusk

Posted by Stephen Phillips (San Francisco, United States) on 17 July 2008 in Transportation and Portfolio.

One of San Francisco's historic Trolley 'F'-Line Cars. There are currently 44 active cars with more currently being restored or awaiting restoration. This one - Car #1074 (Toronto) - is about to make its turn off of the Embarcadero - looping around into Market Street - before proceeding west outbound to its terminus at Castro. More information:

Sen. Diane Feinstein initiated bringing these wonderful cars to San Francisco while she was Mayor here in the late seventies. The Cable Cars are $5 with no transfers. These Trolly Cars will get you to the same area for a buck-and-a-half - and you can return or continue on with a transfer for the next two hours. Quite a deal and lots of fun. Don't miss riding one of the bright orange Italian cars. So tiny. And the controls look like a beautiful brass espresso machine.
