Mmmm...something about a fellow named Thomas with notions of Truths that should be held self-evident - a group of guys in Philadelphia who were willing to pledge their lives and fortunes in support of those notions - and a somewhat stubborn monarch that was insisting on getting his way at any cost.

@hugo poon: Greetings, Hugo - this was one of 10 images I posted from a spectacular sunset back on May 15th of this year. I was shooting the sky and about to warp things up when the fireworks started. I have no idea what the pyrotechnics were for. If you'd like to view these - here is the link:

Please understand that all of these images were shot without a tripod and some are not as sharp as I'd have liked - still...

awesome! glad to see the fog didn't get in the way this year afterall! someone had told me it had... of course San Diego had no fog whatsoever! and it was a marvelous 70 degrees outside too, so of course i didn't need a jacket. still -- SF has WAY better fireworks and choreography -- that is for sure! marvelous job here mate -- the vibrant reflections of light mimic the sky just superbly!

@dj.tigersprout: DJ - Welcome back - I don't where your friends were who actually saw fireworks in San Francisco. We were at Pier 14 and watched the fog cover everything as the sun went down. All we saw were patches of marine layer glowing red, then blue, then green. It was clear the night before and the night after. @Francesc B.: Not from a boat - a new public pier - Pier 14 - was constructed south of the Ferry Building that extends this far out into the bay.
